About Newhall’s Magic Castle

A Storybook Home in the Heart of Newhall

Nestled at 23031 8th Street in historic Old Town Newhall, this enchanting French Norman-style estate was built in 1930, one of only three “storybook” homes crafted along the street by vaudeville performer Charles E. "Charley" Mack. Its unique architecture—steep gables, whimsical detailing, and timeless charm—makes it a rare architectural treasure in Southern California.

At the time, Mack dubbed his little compound “Crowland” and even rented the home after his passing to silent film icon W.C. Fields in the mid-1930s. Today, the estate sits on nearly 6 acres of rolling land, offering sweeping views, lush gardens, and unparalleled privacy.

Located just steps from Main Street, guests enjoy easy access to The MAIN Theater, William S. Hart Museum, and Old Town Newhall’s vibrant arts, dining, and historic district. The estate strikes a rare balance between serenity and accessibility—perfect for romantic getaways, grand celebrations, and cinematic productions.
